Avondale door and spring repair service

Having an automatic garage door is a nice convenience because it takes all of the efforts out of opening and closing your garage door. It also serves as a protection because the only way they can be opened is by remote control which has a code or it won’t open. When it is raining, it is nice to be able to pull into the garage without having to get out of the car to open the door, especially when you have a trunk full of groceries.

Automatic garage doors are not maintenance free, however, and there are certain things that you should pay attention to keep them working properly. Most garage doors are horizontal wooden sections, held together by hinges which bend as the door goes up and down, allowing the door to “make the curve” and tuck itself into the ceiling area of the garage.

The bolts on the hinges should be checked periodically and tightened, otherwise the door can become loose in one area and possibly hang up as the door goes up or down. If that happens, you will have a tangled mess. Also, you should check the bolts or screws that hold the track onto the garage. This is the metal track that the rollers travel up and down on, and if the track comes loose, you can have the same kind of disaster. Both of these items you can do yourself, you just have to remember to do them.

The springs, however, are a different matter, and you should never attempt to repair or replace them yourself unless you have had experience doing so. It is a good idea to call a garage door servicing company once a year to come by and inspect your garage door setup, including the springs, and they can tell you how they are holding up.
